Interview with Mobil Krankenkasse
24/09/2025On October 9th, 2025, the city of Munich became a launchpad for the future of clinical research. Future:Trials 2025 marked the kick-off of the FUTURE:TRIALS – STFNs initiative, a bold new platform and international innovation network designed to rethink how trials are designed, run, and experienced in an evolving healthcare landscape.
Co-organised by Petko Iliev (Clinovate), Kaloyan Ratchev (Vangavis/ Onco:Innovate), and Dr. Eva Wolf (Eurofins MUC Research), and held as a sister event to Onco:Innovate, the gathering brought together a truly international community of stakeholders.
With nearly 30 expert speakers and 13 innovators presenting real-world solutions on stage, Future:Trials 2025 delivered on its mission: to challenge assumptions, surface tensions, and spark new momentum across the European – and global – clinical research ecosystem.
Speakers and partners from over 10 countries, including Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Israel, England, Spain, France, UK, the USA, and beyond, highlighted the shared global urgency to improve how clinical trials translate into better outcomes for patients.
Held in memory of Dr. Stefan Preis, the day opened with a spirit of reflection and ambition – setting the tone for what would become a fast-paced series of keynotes, panels, and startup showcases. Among the speakers and partners were representatives from big pharma, hospital networks, CROs and research sites, academic institutions, patient organisations, regulators, startups, and scaleups – each bringing a critical perspective to the table.
The conversations covered everything from reimagining site operations, building transformative technology, the role of AI, innovative patient recruitment, unlocking clinical trial data, designing medtech trials. The 13 innovators and startups presented their solutions to the wider audience.
Several important findings were presented:
- The early involvement of PIs, study nurses and patients results in more practical study designs and procedures.
- Clear, proactive communication between sponsors and sites is essential for successful collaboration.
- Real-world data can streamline feasibility and support smarter planning.
- Simplified protocols reduce site burden and improve efficiency.
- Reimbursement models must reflect the full workload, not just patient visits.
- Start-ups and interoperable technology solutions are vital for connecting data, streamlining operations and enabling adaptive research.
